Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery Department has been one of the earliest departments open for business. Most of our team members have the working experience in SYSU affiliated hospital network. We commit ourselves to bring the public state-of-the-art clinical service based on the latest translational researches and our excellent education programs with SYSU characteristics.

Our top-level specialists are highly experienced in following areas:
1. ECMO and heart/lung transplantation.
2. Tradition/minimally invasive Video-assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) and interventional treatments for lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mediastinal tumor, tracheal tumor, thymoma, hydrothorax, coronary heart diseases, rheumatic heart diseases, congenital?heart?diseases, atrial fibrillation, aortic aneurysm & dissection, varicose vein, thrombosis and hyperhidrosis.
3. Multidisciplinary treatment for malignant thoracic tumor: chemotherapy, target therapy, immunotherapy and thermotherapy.

Our department is equipped with advanced facilities and equipment to meet different needs of patients. Facilities like private ward, shared ward (2-3patients), ICU with laminar flow and advanced equipment, equipment including Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), ventilator, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), AngioJet, Atricure, HD thoracoscope, bronchofiberscopy, Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), defibrillator, blood gas analyzer, spirometer, and thermoperfusion system are available in our department.

Our department is staffed by high-level specialists and senior professionals with excellent education background. Apart from 1 professor and 1 associate professor, 5 of our specialists have Ph.D. degrees and above.
