HEMATOLOGY

The Hematology Department, as one of the early established departments in the hospital, is home for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of hematologic diseases in the region with advanced equipment like diagnostic and therapeutic system of hematologic malignancy. Moreover, the department is inseparable with the hospital's hematopathy research center where state-of-the-art translational research on hematology take place.
The hematology department currently is staffed by 20 healthcare providers and scientists, including 2 professors and 1 associate professor. Our department now has 24 beds, including 4 beds of laminar flow ward for hemapoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Next year, the hematology department plan to perform (HLA-matched or Haploidentical)allo-HSCT and in upcoming three years, the hematology department will expand to 160 beds, including 40 beds of laminar flow ward for HSCT. By then, the department will become the biggest transplant center in southern China. The hematology department undertook more than 30 national and minister/provincial projects, including National Natural Science Fund, Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Fund etc. Now, the hematology department is leading 4 national and municipal programs, including 2 National Natural science projects, with a total research fund over￥1,780,000. We are also the recipient of the Second Price of Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards.
